Hermana (sister)… a messenger bag inspired by sister.

I initially designed this bag for my hermana (sister). She was traveling to Spain and wanted a messenger bag (her favorite style) which could fit the things she carries on a daily bases.

She loved her trip and the bag :)

Ana’s Hearts

This bag is inspired and dedicated to Ana who passed away during a surgery due to heart failure. I came across Ana’s fabric stash when I responded to a craigslist ad.  The process became personal as I heard Ana’s story. Knowing a bit more about her gave each piece of fabric a personal meaning. I came home and next thing I know I am putting these hearts together.  I hope they serve to keep Ana’s love for sewing alive.

This is a mid-size comfortable and practical bag. It has two inside pockets and a magnetic snap to keep all items secure.

It’s made of recycled denim (in excellent condition) and it’s lined in with a black poli-cotton mix.

Dimensions:
- Top Width: 12 inches (30 cm)
- Botton Width: 8 inches (46 cm)
- Height: 11 inches (28 cm)
- Deep (at the bottom) : 2.5 inches (6 cm)
- Shoulder Strap : 27 inches from end to end (69 cm)

One of my bags finally makes it to my Etsy store… “away” from my wife’s grasp.;)

 The Fancy at Etsy.

Another of my wife’s bags.

Ever since I started designing and sewing my bags, my wife has been my most avid and demanding client. At times, I even wonder if I would ever be able to sell any of my bags since my wife seems to want them all for herself. To be honest, I have to say I have given them away.

I was going through my stash when my wife saw this fabric. She picked it up and placed her “order” right there (it was more like a list of requirements though) ;)

My wife sporting her Mother’s Day gift.

I created this bag’s fabric using techniques I learned in the “Stitch & Slash" class at craftsy.com. My wife is a pianist (hence the musical fabric).

The bag is lined with black satin and has a small inner pocket for a cell phone and a pen.
